best for price and funtionality September 19, 2009 K. arhin 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
i read a lot about all gps. i first settled on garmin 760. I later saw this refurbished product on amazon and decided to try it. since it is refurbished, the device came with some previous owner's information but i just had to reset it to factory setting to erase all previous owner information. this devise is comparable to garmin 1390 which costs $300 where as this magellan is being sold for $100 only. it looks new like it has never been used. just update the firmware and you are ready to hit the road. will highly recommend to friends.
AMAZING GPS!!!!!! October 25, 2009 R. Calderon (Sycamore, IL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Yes, this gps is just great, I recently bought a garmin 255w, and as soon as i looked at it and felt it, i told myself, this is not what i want, so i looked and looked, and since i had a Magellan Maestro before, i decided to buy the magellan Maestro 4370, as soon as i looked at it, i told myself, this is what i want for my traveling. I highly recomend this gps, and if you get it thru Amazon, you will only pay about 120 dollars, thats 3 YEARS extended warranty, ?What else can you ask for?? Go for it!! And even though its refurbished, it just looks like new and works like new. I just hope my review helps you decide to get this gps, you wont regret it!!
Great Deal!!! October 5, 2009 B. Kushkuley (NJ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Over the past few years I owned four different GPS units. This one is definitely the best one. The screen is gorgeous. This hi res screen makes a huge difference. The unit is full of features like lane assist, 3D buildings, Bluetooth, AAA database. As a BT speaker it does not work as well as a standalone piece (I own the Jabra's one). I had some problems paring with my iPhone but eventually I managed to connect. Researching on the internet you can find some tips about hacking the unit. I was able to make the warning screen to disappear after few seconds without clicking OK button, the way most Magellan units behave. Lane assist is a really cool feature. I'm a little bit disappointed with subscription based traffic alerts. Really hate to pay a monthly fee when there are many other units offering it for free. No biggie, as far as I understand it is unreliable at this point anyway. The speaker is, kind of, weak. For the price of $109 I paid for the refurbished unit (which by the way came as new) it's a great deal. Though it is not perfect, I highly recommend it.
Best purchase I've ever made! October 14, 2009 J. Matasich (Bothell, WA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I compared every GPS out there and finally decided on this one and I'm extremely glad I did. Everyone tells you to "get a Garmin". I'd have to disagree. The Garmin and the Magellan are exactly the same asides from price. If you'd rather pay $200 more for the same product go for it, however I'd rather save that money for something else. The Magellan has found every place I need to go. I love some of the features on it, like putting your MP3's on it and being able to listen to your music through your car speakers. No iPod needed! You can put videos and pictures on as well. I love that it has pedestrian mode, bus mode, taxi mode and car mode. You can choose between arrival time, current time, distance etc when locating a place. The screen is clear and big. Mounting it is extremely easy. I liked it so much, I bought one for my friend. And if your worried about factory refurbished, don't be. It is just like brand new right out of the box. If there wasn't a sheet saying it was factory refurbished I would have never known. The only thing I noticed was my home was set to somewhere in Tennessee (I live in Washington) but that is an easy fix. Delete home, add yours. I would recommend this to anyone.
up date after replacement February 14, 2010 Joyce E. Stoesser Purchased a factory refurbished from amazon.com,arrived fast. turned on magellan 4370,started right up after a charge overnight would not show my correct address, was way off, When I tried it in the car :showed maps that weren't where I live. Turns out even though the unit was sold through amazon it was marked refurbished on the box and It wasn't a working model but a demo model only. Called Amazon, couldn't have been nicer, They helped me in minutes. They are sending me a new refurbished 4370 at their cost 1 day shipping Way to go Amazon.com. Magellan should take a lesson in customer service from you guys. Will up date this review after I've tested the new 4370 I've owned several magellans, this is by far the best one, makes my garmin look sick Fast startup, good directions, even gives a choice of routes with times and distance for each. there were several issues when it first came out.A firm ware up date corrected this.built in traffic, will show speed if selected,or distance to travel, time to arrive. Tells if you go over the speed limit great display. Some people complained about touch control. It works fine if you only touch an item once. touch them twice or keep touching and it will slow up. Take your time the unit is very fast at a reroute if you miss a turn.Lane assist works fine but not in rural areas or parking lots. Lets you mark where your car in a parking lot, take unit with you, will guide you back to car on foot.pedestrian mode bicycle mode. MP3 plays thru it's own speaker or thru your car radio. To many features to list but just about everything you could ask for.
Always go with Magellan June 6, 2010 Jason M. Place (Cleveland, Ohio) I got the factory recertified version. In the 2 months I've had it I have had no problems. The interface is very simple. Traffic works like a charm. It finds a signal really fast. Faster than Tom Tom and Garmin. The only "con" is the FM transmitter is kinda weak. I find stations with zero broadcast and I'm still getting a not so solid signal from the magellan. It works though so I'm not complaining. For the money, This is a GREAT GPS.
